Motorcycle Accident Pine Ave Erie Pa

Motorcycle Fatality in East Erie Intersection

Erie Police Seek Witnesses

Details of the Crash

On June 14, 2024, Erie police reported a fatal motorcycle accident at the intersection of Reed Street and Pine Avenue at approximately 3:38 p.m. The incident resulted in the death of Curtis Duncan, 41, of Lake City, as confirmed by Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook.

According to Erie Police Chief Dan Spizarny, an SUV traveling eastbound on E 36th Street was involved in a collision with a motorcycle heading north on Reed Street. The driver of the SUV reportedly pulled out in front of the motorcycle, causing the impact.

Ongoing Investigation

Erie police are actively investigating the accident and seeking witnesses who may have witnessed the collision. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Erie Police Department at 814-870-1120.

Additional Motorcycle Fatalities

Tragically, this incident is far from the only motorcycle fatality in Erie County this year. In recent months, several other fatal motorcycle accidents have occurred:

  • A 53-year-old motorcyclist from Erie died in a collision with a pickup truck on Saturday afternoon.
  • A 43-year-old Erie resident died in a motorcycle accident on March 12.
  • Three people were killed in a high-speed crash on West 12th Street in Erie on Friday afternoon.

Safety Concerns

The surge in motorcycle fatalities in Erie County raises concerns about the safety of motorcyclists on the road. Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to collisions due to their lack of protection in the event of an accident.

Erie police urge all motorcyclists to exercise caution and wear protective gear. Drivers are also reminded to be aware of motorcycles and yield the right of way when necessary.
