Reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid has officially signed a multi-year shoe deal with Skechers, making him the new face of the company's growing basketball brand. The deal was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and has since been confirmed by Skechers.
Embiid's Skechers debut came on Wednesday night, when he wore the brand's TRC Echo shoes during the Philadelphia 76ers' game against the Boston Celtics. The shoes, which retail for $140 on the Skechers website, feature a black and red colorway and Embiid's signature logo on the tongue.
Embiid's signing with Skechers does not come as a huge surprise to those in the footwear industry. The 7-foot center has been one of the most sought-after free agents on the market, and Skechers has been aggressively pursuing him for months.
